Biography
Asa Kasher is the Laura Schwarz-Kipp Professor Emeritus of Professional Ethics and Philosophy of Practice, and Professor Emeritus of Philosophy, Tel-Aviv University. His research covers a broad range of topics in philosophy and ethics, espcecially including military ethics, medical ethics and the philosophy of language as well as issues of Jewish identity. He is a member of the European Academy of Science and Humanities and has taught at Tel Aviv University, Bar-Ilan University, The University of Texas at Austin, UCLA, IDF College of Command, the Center of Military and Strategic Studies and the University of Calgary.
Holding a M.SC. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and History and Philosophy of Science and a PhD. in Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Professor Kasher is the author of The Israel Defense Force’s Code of Ethics published by the Israel Ministry of Defense and has worked with others on the Code of Ethics of the Knesset and the Code of Ethics of the Ministers.
