Israeli Ambassador to the United States and the United Nations Gilad Erdan this week was prevented by officials from bringing a placard into the General Assembly that depicted antisemitic social media posts by a teacher on the UN’s payroll in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, including one that praised Adolf Hitler.
The story did not generate even a blip on the international media’s radar.
According to an HonestReporting big data search, between October 4, the day Erdan sought to present the information during a forum focused on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and publication of this piece, there was a grand total of nine mentions in media outlets.

And it was the second time in just days that the United Nations had silenced voices attempting to highlight the scourge of antisemitism that critics argue is endemic to UNRWA. On October 1, UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) President Nazhat Shameem Khan cut off a video produced by UN Watch because the executive director of the NGO began quoting offensive statements by UNRWA teachers.
The video showed Hillel Neuer referencing a report published in August by his organization that called out over 100 teachers and staff at UNRWA-run schools.
Khan argued that exposing these antisemites constituted “personal attacks” against the individuals.
🚨 CENSORED: @UN_HRC just stopped me from calling out UNRWA teachers who glorify Hitler & incite antisemitism. Chair says I made “derogatory, insulting & inflammatory remarks”—by quoting their own Facebook posts. “This amounts to personal attacks. This statement is out of order.” pic.twitter.com/8jFrvzdYR8

UN: Silencing Israel’s Antisemitism Charge, Allowing Iran to Spread Blood Libel
Meanwhile, the United Nations on September 21 provided a megaphone to the president of Iran, whose supreme leader has repeatedly called for the eradication of the Jewish state.
Known as the ‘Butcher of Tehran‘ for, among other things, the alleged role he played in the executions of thousands of political prisoners in 1988 and in the violent suppression of anti-government demonstrations in 2009, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi claimed in a speech to the UN General Assembly that the raison d’etre of the “occupier Zionist regime” is to slaughter Palestinian women and children.
That is, Raisi disseminated malicious libels about Israel in the same location where Erdan was forcibly silenced.
Not to mention that the Islamic Republic is, in fact, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.
Indeed, Iran’s president on his first full day in office hosted representatives of at least four internationally recognized terrorist groups and offered them ongoing support for their genocidal ambition to annihilate Israel. Among the prominent terror leaders were Hezbollah’s Naim Qassem, Hamas’ political chief Ismail Haniyeh and Ziyad al-Nakhalah, secretary-general of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Representatives of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also attended Raisi’s swearing-in ceremony.

Axis of Antisemitism: Iran, Hamas, UNRWA
Besides the fact that its textbooks inculcate children with hatred of Israel and Jews, UNRWA-run schools have repeatedly been used by Hamas to store rockets and missiles. Indeed, the Hamas Charter outlines its ideological commitment to quite literally killing every Jew on Earth. It is no coincidence that May’s 11-day Hamas-initiated conflict against Israel caused a spike in antisemitic violence throughout the world.

Iran’s role is that of benefactor, with Hamas reaping the financial fruits.
But Tehran’s largesse comes with strings, none of which include enhancing the overall humanitarian situation in Gaza. Instead, Iran requires that Hamas allocate huge sums of money to supporting and expanding the terrorist activities of its so-called military wing. Funding from the Islamic Republic accounts for nearly half of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades’ total estimated budget.
Media’s Masking of Antisemitism
Incidents of antisemitism are on the rise, yet many media outlets appear to have missed the memo.
Choosing to not cover stories like UN officials placing a muzzle on the Israeli ambassador because he intended to show that UNRWA employs vicious antisemites seemingly proves this point.
