It’s been several years since HonestReporting had a dedicated blog.
A lot has changed in that time. We’ve dramatically expanded our presence on social media while continuing to produce the articles, investigations and resources that have been at the heart of HonestReporting for 25 years.
But I’ve increasingly felt that something was missing.
There are plenty of things I see during the course of a day that deserve a comment but don’t necessarily need a full article. Stories that are developing too quickly to wait. Pieces of journalism worth recommending. Pieces of journalism that most definitely are not. And, occasionally, something that makes me laugh — because following the news from Israel without retaining a sense of humor would be a fairly dangerous undertaking.
That’s where The Honest Word comes in.
Think of it as a little less formal and a little more personal. A place where I, along with others from the HonestReporting team, can share:
- Our own thoughts and observations on the stories we’re following.
- Immediate reactions when news breaks and the media narrative starts taking shape.
- Articles, analysis and commentary from elsewhere that we think are worth your time, including, yes, examples of journalism that gets Israel right.
- And the occasional lighter moment amid news that is all too often anything but light.
This isn’t intended to replace what HonestReporting already does.
It’s the conversation in between.
And given that Israel rarely suffers from a shortage of news – or questionable media coverage – I suspect we won’t be short of things to talk about.
So check back regularly on our dedicated blog page or on the HonestReporting homepage.
