When Israel’s Haters Tell You Who They Are, Believe Them

For those who don’t know me, I am relatively new at HonestReporting, but not to the world of Israel advocacy.

In fact, one might say I am somewhat of a fossil in the space. Others might be kinder and call me one of the originals.

Be that as it may, I am pleased that the HonestReporting blog has been resurrected, because I find the blogging medium conducive to calling attention to things that deserve a closer look..

Case in point: this video posted by Marianela Pereyra, a journalist with an unhealthy obsession with Israel.

The woman who filmed this thinks this is a "win."

She speaks over a Lebanese man displaying those murdered by the Iranian regime, immediately attacking Israel without relating to these murdered men, women and children.

They don’t make journalists like they used to.

As I pointed out, her video is very revealing of her mindset and of those like her. It is a textbook case of what happens when inconvenient truth meets ideology.

The comments to her post are also revealing:

So much for “anti-Zionism” having nothing whatsoever to do with antisemitism.

There is a broader lesson here.

When Israel’s enemies post material like this, our instinct should not necessarily be to get it removed from the Internet. Sometimes the most effective response is to preserve it, amplify it and shine a spotlight on it.

Because when people reveal the hatred, hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy underlying their cause, we should let them.

Sometimes Israel’s enemies make our case better than we ever could.
