Who Are the Killed Gazan Journalists Affiliated With Palestinian Terror Groups?

One of the more widely discussed facets of the Israel-Hamas war has been the number of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza since October 7.

The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Associated Press, and the Financial Times are just some of the mainstream media organizations that have featured in-depth reports on the Palestinian journalist casualties in Gaza.

However, what these reports fail to disclose is that a substantial number of these Gaza-based journalists were either members of proscribed Palestinian terror organizations or affiliated with these groups. These groups include Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Based on information provided by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), of the 207 Palestinian journalists identified by the CPJ as being killed in Gaza to date (June 23, 2026), 112 (roughly 54%) were either members or affiliates of an anti-Israel terrorist group.

The following is a list of the killed Palestinian journalists who were associated with Gaza-based terror groups:

1. Mohammed Washah (reported killed on April 8, 2026) – He worked as a correspondent for Al Jazeer Mubasher. He was reportedly a member of Hamas’ rocket and drone unit.
2. Ahmed Abu Mutair (reportedly killed on October 19, 2025) – He worked as a broadcast engineer for Palestine Media Production. He reportedly served as a terrorist operative for Hamas.
3. Saleh Aljafarawi (reportedly killed on October 12, 2025) – As a freelancer, he celebrated the October 7 massacres and spread propaganda on behalf of Hamas. He was killed while attached to a Hamas squad conducting an operation against an anti-Hamas clan.
4. Mohammed Al Day (reportedly killed on September 27, 2025) – He worked as a journalist and social media editor for the Palestinian Information Center, which is close to Hamas.
5. Mohammed Al Kuaifi (reportedly killed on September 15, 2025) – Worked as a photographer for Safa News Agency. Reportedly served as a terrorist operative for Hamas.
6. Ayman Haniyeh (reportedly killed on September 2, 2025) – He worked for Al-Manara Television. Reportedly served as a terrorist operative for Hamas.
7. Islam Abed (reportedly killed on August 31, 2024) – She worked as a broadcast reporter for Islamic Jihad-affiliated Al Quds Today TV.
8. Mohammed Qreiqeh (reportedly killed on August 10, 2025) – He worked for Al Jazeera. He had previously worked for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
9. Anas Al-Sharif (reportedly killed on August 10, 2025) – He worked for Al Jazeera. He reportedly served as the head of a Hamas terror cell responsible for rocket fire.
10. Adam Abu Harbid (reportedly killed on July 24, 2025) – He worked as a camera operator for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
11. Ahmed Abu Eisha (reportedly killed on July 10, 2025) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today.
12. Ismail Baddah (reportedly killed on June 5, 2025) – He worked as a photojournalist for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated Palestine TV.
13. Suleiman Hajjaj (reportedly killed on June 5, 2025) – He worked as a journalist for Islamic Jihad-affiliated Palestine TV. He also reportedly served as a terror operative for Islamic Jihad.
14. Hassan Samour (reportedly killed on May 15, 2025) – He worked as a host and producer for Hamas-owned Al-Aqsa Radio.
15. Noureddine Abdo (reportedly killed on May 7, 2025) – He reportedly served as a combatant for Hamas.
16. Ahmed Mansour (reportedly killed on April 7, 2025) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today.
17. Hilmi al-Faqaawi (reportedly killed on April 7, 2025) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today TV.
18. Mohammed Mansour (reportedly killed on March 24, 2025) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today.
19. Hossam Shabat (reportedly killed on March 24, 2025) – He worked for Al Jazeera. He reportedly served as a sniper in Hamas’ Beit Hanoun Battalion.
20. Mohammed Al-Talmas (reportedly killed on January 14, 2025) – He worked as an editor for Hamas-affiliated Safa News Agency.
21. Mohammed Al-Ladaa (reportedly killed on December 26, 2024) – He worked as an editor for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
22. Fadi Hassouna (reportedly killed on December 26, 2024) – He worked as a photographer and editor for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
23. Ibrahim Sheikh Ali – (reportedly killed on December 26, 2024) – He worked as a field producer and fixer for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
24. Ayman Al-Gedi (reportedly killed on December 26, 2024) – He worked as a camera operator and journalist for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
25. Faisal Abu Al Qamsan (reportedly killed on December 26, 2024) – He worked as a correspondent for Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
26. Mohammed Al Sharafi (reportedly killed on December 18, 2024) – He freelanced as a photographer and editor for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
27. Ahmed Al-Louh (reportedly killed on December 15, 2024) – He worked as a photographer for Al Jazeera. He had previously served as an Islamic Jihad commander in the central camps.
28. Iman al-Shanti (reportedly killed on December 11, 2024) – She worked as a host and producer for Hamas-owned Al-Aqsa Radio.
29. Maisara Ahmed Salah (reportedly killed on November 30, 2024) – He was reportedly a member of the Khulafa Battalion and was killed while filming a terrorist raid against IDF troops.
30. Mamdouh Qanita (reportedly killed on November 30, 2024) – He worked as a journalist and editor for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
31. Ahmed Abu Sharia (reportedly killed on November 19, 2024) – He worked as a freelance photojournalist and also reportedly served as a field commander for the Mujahideen Brigades.
32. Mahdi Al-Mamluk (reportedly killed on November 11, 2024) – He worked as a broadcast engineer for Islamic Jihad-owned satellite news channel Al-Qouds Al-Youm. He was also identified by Islamic Jihad as a senior commander in its Central Communications Unit.
33. Ahmed Abu Shkeil (reportedly killed on November 9, 2024) – He worked as a freelance photographer and was reportedly a terrorist operative for Islamic Jihad.
34. Bilal Rajab (reportedly killed on November 1, 2024) – He worked as a journalist and camera operator for Islamic Jihad-owned satellite news channel Al-Qouds Al-Youm. He was also a member of Islamic Jihad’s Saraya Al Quds Shuja’iyya Battalion, Gaza Brigade.
35. Amr Abu Odeh (reportedly killed on October 31, 2024) – He worked as a freelance photographer and also reportedly served as a member of Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, Beit Hanoun Battalion.
36. Saed Radwan (reportedly killed on October 27, 2024) – He worked as a journalist and managed the social media department of Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
37. Mohammed Al-Tanani (reportedly killed on October 9, 2024) – He worked as a journalist and camera operator for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
38. Hussam al-Dabbaka (reportedly killed on August 22, 2024) – He worked as a freelancer for the Islamic Jihad-owned satellite news channel Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
39. Hamza Murtaja (reportedly killed on August 20, 2024) – He was reportedly a member of Hamas’ military wing.
40. Ismail Al-Ghoul (reported killed on July 31, 2024) – He was reportedly a member of Hamas’ specialized Nukhba forces.
41. Mohammed Abu Jasser (reported killed on July 20, 2024) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated newspaper Al-Risala and for Felesteen, a pro-Hamas newspaper.
42. Mohamed Meshmesh (reported killed on July 15, 2024) – He worked as the Director of Programs at the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Voice Radio.
43. Mohamed Manhal Abu Armana – He worked as a photographer for Palestine Now. He was killed in the strike that targeted Hamas leader Mohammed Deif and was mourned as a member of the Rafah Brigade’s military media department. He was identified by Hamas as a field commander and appeared in a video produced by the terror group.
44. Rizq Abu Shakian (reportedly killed on July 6, 2024) – He worked for the Palestine Now Agency. He reportedly served in Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades.
45. Mohammed Al-Sakani (reportedly killed on July 4, 2024) – He worked in the logistics and studio installation department for the Islamic Jihad-owned Al-Qouds Al-Youm. He was also reportedly a deputy platoon commander in the Islamic Jihad’s Gaza Brigade.
46. Rashed Albably (reported killed on June 6, 2024) – He worked as a freelance journalist and reportedly served as a combatant member of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades.
47. Mahmoud Juhjouh (reported killed on May 16, 2024) – He worked as a photographer for the Palestine Post and reportedly served as a terrorist operative for Hamas.
48. Bahaa Okasha (reported killed on May 11, 2024) – He worked as a camera operator the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV.
49. Salem Abu Toyour (reported killed on April 29, 2024) – He served as a media worker at the Islamic Jihad-affiliated TV channel, Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
50. Mohammed Bassam Al Jamal (reported killed on April 25, 2024) – He worked as a photographer for Al Qassam Brigades’-affiliated news agency, “Palestine Now.”
51. Mustafa Bahr – (reported killed on March 31, 2024) – He was the co-founder of Palestine Breaking News and served as a reporter for them. He was also a commander in the Nasser Salah Al-Din Brigades (the third-largest terror group in Gaza).
52. Mohamed Adel Abu Shkeil (reported killed on March 28, 2024) – He worked as an editor and graphic designer for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Voice Radio.
53. Tarek El Sayed Abu Skheil (reported killed on March 18, 2024) – He worked for Al-Quds Radio and reportedly served as a combatant member of Islamic Jihad.
54. Mohamed El Sayed Abu Skheil (reported killed on March 18, 2024) – He worked for Al-Quds Radio and reportedly served as a combatant for Islamic Jihad. Islamic Jihad later confirmed his membership in the terrorist organization as a combatant.
55. Muhammad Salama (reported killed on March 5, 2024) – He served as a host on Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV.
56. Zayd Abu Zayed (reported killed on February 15, 2024) – Worked for Quran Radio, which is identified with Hamas.
57. Ayman Al-Rafati (reported killed on February 14, 2024) – He was a journalist and analyst who wrote for the Hezbollah-affiliated broadcaster Al Mayadeen.
58. Alaa Al-Hams (passed away on February 12, 2024 from a prior wound) – She had previously worked for the Houthi-affiliated Al Masira TV Network and the Hamas-affiliated news agency, Al-Rai.
59. Yasser Mamdouh El-Fady (reported killed on February 11, 2024) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated Kan’an News Agency.
60. Rizq Al-Gharabli (reported killed on February 6, 2024) – He was the director of the Hamas-affiliated Palestinian Information Center.
61. Tariq Al-Maidna (reported killed on January 29, 2024) – He worked as a freelance camera operator for Houthi-controlled Yemen TV.
62. Mohammed Atallah (reported killed on January 29, 2024) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Resalah news website.
63. Iyad El-Ruwagh (reported killed on January 25, 2024) – He worked as a host for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Voice Radio.
64. Mohamed Jamal Sobhi Al-Thalathini (reported killed on January 11, 2024) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
65. Ahmed Bdeir (reported killed on January 10, 2024) – He worked for Bawabat al-Hadaf, which is affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
66. Abdallah Iyad Breis (reported killed on January 8, 2024) – He led the photography section for the Hamas government-run Rawafed educational channel.
67. Hamza Al Dahdouh (reported killed on January 7, 2024) – He worked for Al Jazeera. He reportedly served in Islamic Jihad’s electronic engineering unit and previously served as a deputy commander in the Zeitoun Brigade’s rocket force.
68. Mustafa Thuraya (reported killed on January 7, 2024) – He worked as a freelancer for AFP. He reportedly served as a deputy squad commander in Hamas’ Gaza City Brigade.
69. Akram Elshafie (passed away on January 5, 2024 from injuries sustained in October 2023) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated Safa news agency.
70. Jabr Abu Hadrous (reported killed on December 29, 2023) – He worked as a reporter for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
71. Ahmed Khaireddine (reported killed on December 28, 2023) – He worked as a cameraman for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated broadcaster Al-Qouds Al-Youm and for the Hamas-affiliated Quds Feed.
72. Mohamad Al-Iff (reported killed on December 24, 2023) – He worked as a journalist and photographer for the Hamas-affiliated news agency, Al-Rai.
73. Mohamed Azzaytouniyah (reported killed on December 24, 2023) – He worked as a sound engineer for the Hamas-affiliated news agency, Al-Rai.
74. Ahmad Jamal Al-Madhoun (reported killed on December 24, 2023) – He served as the deputy director of the Hamas-affiliated news agency, Al-Rai.
75. Mohamed Naser Abu Huwaidi (reported killed on December 22, 2023) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated newspaper, Al-Istiklal and was later mourned as a combatant member of Islamic Jihad.
76. Mohamed Khalifeh (reported killed on December 22, 2023) – He served as a director at the Hamas-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Aqsa TV*.
77. Adel Zorob (reported killed on December 19, 2023) –  He was freelance journalist who worked with a variety of media outlets in Gaza, including the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Voice Radio.
78. Abdallah Alwan (reported killed on December 18, 2023) – He worked for Al Jazeera and also as a radio host at the Islamic University in Gaza, a Hamas-affiliated organization.
79. Assem Kamal Moussa (reported killed on December 17, 2023) – He reportedly served as a combatant member of Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades.
80. Haneen Kashtan (reported killed on December 17, 2023) – He worked for the Fatah-affiliated Al-Kofiya TV and for Tzut Alutan, a radio station affiliated with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
81. Hamada Al-Yaziji (reported killed on December 3, 2023) – He worked for Hamas-affiliated Al Quds Radio and the privately-owned Kanaan News Agency.
82. Hassan Farajalla (reported killed on December 3, 2023) – According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, he held a senior position at Hamas-affiliated Al-Quds TV. According to the Meir Amit Center, he held a senior position at the Islamic Jihad-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Qouds Al-Youm.
83. Shaima El-Gazzar (reported killed on either December 3 or 4, 2023) – She worked for the Al-Majedat network and was reportedly also a Hamas activist.
84. Abdullah Darwish (reported killed on December 1, 2023) – He worked as a cameraman for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV* and reportedly served as a member of Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades and a Nukhba unit leader from the Al-Nuseirat Battalion.
85. Mostafa Bakeer (reported killed on November 24, 2023) – He worked as a cameraman and journalist for the Hamas-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Aqsa TV*.
86. Mohamed Mouin Ayyash (reported killed on November 23, 2023) – He worked as a freelance photographer and reportedly served as a member of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades.
87. Assem Al-Barsh (reported killed on November 22, 2023) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated news agency, Al-Rai.

89. Abdelhalim Awad (reported killed November 18, 2023) – He served as a media worker and driver for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
90. Mostafa El Sawaf (reported killed November 18, 2023) – He worked for the local news website MSDR News. He joined Hamas at its founding and previously served as a member of Hamas’ Gaza leadership.
91. Amro Salah Abu Hayah (reported killed on November 18, 2023) – He worked in the broadcast department of Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
92. Yaqoub Al-Borsh (reported killed on November 13, 2023) – He worked for Namaa Radio and was a member of the military media for Hamas’ Jabalia Battalion.
93. Yahya Abu Manih (reported killed on November 7, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Radio.
94. Mohamad Al-Bayyari (reported killed on November 2, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
95. Iyad Matar (reported killed on November 1, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
96. Majed Kashko (reported killed on October 31, 2023) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today.
97. Yasser Abu Namous (reported killed on October 27, 2023) He worked for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Sahel media organization. He was also reportedly a member of Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigade.
98. Duaa Sharaf (reported killed on October 26, 2023) – She worked as a host for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa Radio.
99. Jamal Al-Faqaawi (reported killed on October 25, 2023) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated Mithaq Media Foundation and also reportedly served as a combatant member of Islamic Jihad.
100. Saed Al-Halabi (reported killed on October 25, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
101. Ahmed Abu Mhadi (reported killed on October 25, 2023) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
102. Mohammed Imad Labad (reported killed on October 23, 2023) – He worked for the Hamas-affiliated news website, Al-Resalah, and was eulogized as the right-hand of Hamas commander, “Abu Hamza the Ghost.”
103. Khalil Abu Aathra (reported killed on October 19, 2023) – He worked as a videographer for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
104. Sameeh Al-Nady (reported killed on October 18, 2023) – He worked as a journalist and director for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
105. Mohammad Balousha (reported killed on October 17, 2023) – He worked as a journalist and administrator for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated media channel, Palestine Today.
106. Issam Bhar (reported killed on October 17, 2023) – He worked for Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV*.
107. Husam Mubarak (reported killed on October 13, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa radio station.
108. Salam Mema (reported killed on October 13, 2023) – She headed the Women Journalists Committee at the Palestinian Media Assembly, an Islamic Jihad-affiliated journalist organization.
109. Ahmed Shehab (reported killed on October 12, 2023) – He worked for the Islamic Jihad-affiliated radio station, Voice of the Prisoners. He had previously been imprisoned by Israel and was released during the 2011 Shalit deal.
110. Mohammed Sobh (reported killed on October 9, 2023) – He worked as a photographer for “Khabar” news agency and reportedly served as a member of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.
111. Mohammad Al-Salhi (reported killed on October 7, 2023) – He worked as a photojournalist for the Fourth Authority news agency and was also responsible for public relations for the Hamas-affiliated Dar al-Quran al-Karrem wal-Sunnah organization.
112. Mohammad Jarghoun (reported killed on October 7, 2023) – He worked as a journalist for Smart Media and reportedly served in Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades.
