President Obama has once again invoked US national security interests to prevent the US embassy moving to Jerusalem. Is this the correct decision?

We’ve made the mistake in the past of trading Pal prisoners which only brought about the Gilad situation. Let’s try to correct our past error of trading because the future consequences may prove even worse for us. It makes every Jew or Israeli a potential victim anywhere in the world.

1- Media Pressure by Jews, but mainly by Israeli government.
2- Install GPS under the skin of all Israeli soldier.
(I don´t understand why such a technological advanced country doesn´t protect its soldiers, or even all its citizens, with personal GPS…).
3- Don´t give them back their terrorists. Never more. It would stimulate them to capture more and more Israelis.

I pray for Gilad Shalit every day. It is a Torah obligation to free any Jew held captive by the nations. Save one life and you save the whole world. Israel is obligated in every way to do everything possible to free Gilad Shalit. To me, everything possible means just that – the use of PR, the media, the Red Cross (useless perhaps but pressure them anyway), any and all friends we have to put political pressure on Hamas and other Arab countries, intelligence gathering, commando raids if worthwhile, military operations of any scale up to and including all out war. It’s shameful that after so many years we’re still in this stalemate situation.
Israel should be taking a MUCH HARDER LINE on this and pretty much all other issues – eg. the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, giving up ANY land, the two state solultion (ridiculous concept), the flotilla(s) etc. Free Gilad Shalit – don’t give away anything!

I fear that Shalit is no longer alive. Hamas was offered a better deal than what Olmert offered and they still turned it down. Something isn’t Kosher.

Yotam,
Your life is far too precious to just forget about you if you are captured. There are too few Jews in this world without such inaction to deprive us of even more.
By depriving the average Gazan of the luxuries and necessities of life and letting them know why, Israel could probably arouse enough anger to get the desired results. There is nothing like a rumbling stomach to move the immovable and foment an uprising by them against their leaders.
They don’t care about Israelis or Jews. They don’t care about their own women and children.
They will come to care about themselves when hunger stirs their ire and that will move them.

Israel should capture an important Hamas leader and offer to trade him back to Hamas for Gilad Shalit.

Agree with your comment. Israel must take a tougher stand against these Barbarians – do NOT give away an Inch of land! Take back the Temple Mount – this is G-d’s, Yaweh’s sacred Mount, and He calls ALL to Repentance and Salvation, both Arabs(Muslems), Jews, and Gentiles, through Messiah Yeshua. Mossad should get Abas’s # 2 (at least), and hold for trade for Gilad Shalit. (Or does Mossad know Gilad is already dead), thus no action.

Enough is enough! And Gilad has been held WAY too long! The Israeli PM should tell the IDF to prepare plans for destruction of Hamas (I would hope the IDF has such already). Once reviewed and ready, the PM should let Hamas know, very publicly, that they have 48 hours to hand Gilad over safe and sound, and that anything less that this will draw an extremely swift and harsh response. Finally, of course, the PM must make good on that promise, should (G-d forbid) Hamas not comply or Gilad is returned in lesser condition. Israel used to be respected and feared (much the same thing). Israel must regain this position without further delay.

No talks at all with the Palistinians untill he is released in good health. If Hamas withdraws from goverment then the new goverment must prove they controll West Bank and Gaza by having him released. No talks with out GILAD SAFLY HOME.

We need to first find out if Shalit is alive. We must put such pressure on Hamas that they will have no choice other than to prove to us that he is alive., or if he is not, to say so. If the US and other democracies would be willing to withhold all aid, even to Egypt who recently opened its borders to Gaza in order to assist them, then perhaps that would help. If the domocratic countries refuse, and say it only hurts their Gazan people, then perhaps a targeted attack on the leadership of Hamas is the only way to convince them to comply.

I think that we have to make a global protest in front of the Red Cross offices or in front of the Sirian Embassies all over the world demanding his release. All over the world in the same day

Liberate Gilad via helicopted and tank commandoes. What a dream
Meanwhile the Red Cross fails to get to even visit Gilad Ben Aviva? A big scandal.
Hamas has no God. Tihillin is always in order and may the Lord of Hosts, a Man of War
intercede directly. Amen He always watches over us.

The problem is no one is sure exactly where Gilad Shalit is located. At the Entebbe raid, they had floor plans of the airport and could plan their exact attack and getaway.

Give Gazastan 24 hours to return Gilad. Then ( because the soldier is most likely dead) target all leaders of the terror organizations. Nonstop. Kill them all. Then go after those who would attack Israel or her Jews. Then slowly level every structure in Gaza. Send survivors to Trans-Jordan.
Annex Gaza . Annex Judea and Samaria. Remove all terrorists, including Abbas, PA Authority, and WAQF. Make ALL RESIDENTS swear allegiance to Israel, or leave for Trans-Jordan.
Stop allowing attacks. Stop allowing incitement to riot against Jews and Israel. Stop leaders of Israel from appeasement of the Arabs. No peace talks. Become Israeli , or leave for Trans-Jordan.

As much as my heart goes out to Gilad and his family, Israel cannot trade any prisoner for terrorists as this only places more Israeli’s at risk.
When Syrians crossed into Israel, Israel should have locked them up and traded them for Gilad.
Israel should refuse all access to terrorist prisoners by the red crescent and red cross until such time they have access to Gilad. These terrorists must have no privelages till Gilad is freed ( such as visits, cellphones ,books ,etc)

If the IDF or anyone in Israel knows where Gilab Shalit is kept Prisoner, A special detachment od the IDF should be trained and equipped to get him out by force. Main objective to be to bring as many as possible of his captors back for trial. To be executed if found guilty of illegally detaining an Israely Citizen against his will. Yours sincerely, Kees.

Why is it taking so long to find out the real situation of Gilad Shalit? Over time has he been forgotten? May the Lord God Almighty hear our prayers and give us answers, leaning on the arm of the flesh proves futile. Why has his release not been taken seriously? Once again the ‘Peace Deal’ is being brought to focus but the voices pleading for the release of one soldier are smothered by other issues – maybe the pressure by the United Nations etc. is exerting more influence….. the only comfort is the Living God is watching and He is a God of righteousness and justice and He is to be feared and revered.

Margaret Sadoc said “… He is a God of righteousness and justice …”
I see no evidence whatsoever of such attributes.
Indeed, throughout history there has never been any demonstration of those fine qualities by “He” …who… “is to be feared and revered.”

Cut off ALL electricity to Gaza until Gilad is returned……..Why should Gilad and his family be forced to live through Dark days whilst the Gazans enjoy living with lights and even a new theme park?

The Israeli army needs to conduct a “Free Gilad” operation aimed at dismantling the Hamas network. It is something that will need to be done at some point anyway and there is no more honorable reason than to free one of our own soldiers. Hamas needs to learn to fear the IDF, even more than they do now and if we have to use Gilad as a pretext for destroying Hamas, I say the sooner the better. The advantage we have in this one is that we can declare our willingness to halt the operation if Gilad is returned safely. Of course, that won’t be enough for Hamas and Gilad may well die during the operation but we all know the breaking of Hamas’s back is necessary if we are to live in security in our own land.
