BBC Olympic Coverage Declares East Jerusalem as Palestinian Capital
July 19, 2012 13:34 by Simon PloskerThe Olympic Games are the world’s greatest sporting event with a global audience of millions. London will be the venue to showcase the multitude of competing nations. As the host broadcaster, the BBC should stick to the Olympic’s ideals and refrain from introducing its usual politically tainted bias into the proceedings.
Take action now and support Israel’s demand that the BBC corrects its error. Send your complaints through the BBC Complaints website – www.bbc.co.uk/complaints. For detailed instructions on how to navigate the BBC Complaints website, click here.

UPDATE
The BBC has now amended the country profiles.
The Palestine profile includes the following: “Palestine is recognised as a competing country by the IOC but is not recognised as a modern state.”
In place of a Capital, Palestine, according to the BBC has an “Intended seat of government,” which states: “East Jerusalem. Ramallah serves as administrative capital.”
As for the Israel profile, it still has no capital city. Instead, the BBC has fudged the issue by including a “Seat of government,” which states: “Jerusalem, though most foreign embassies are in Tel Aviv.”
Has the BBC taken a leaf out of The Guardian and the PCC’s book by implying that Tel Aviv could conceivably be Israel’s capital?
Sorry BBC, while it’s certainly an improvement, it’s still just not good enough.

Ryan, Your arguments are pathetically one-sided ignoring the reality which is that the rockets keep coming. Since you obviously have no idea as to what is really occurring, try to understand that it takes 2 to tango and that when terrorist savages fire rockets at children and send suicide bombers into Israel, the only response from Israel should be annihilation of the enemy, Being the democratic, humanitarian state that Israel is, the response is to provide medical care and a targeted response to the terrorism. Forget the oneisided bullshit that you see and read in your press, come to Israel and experience the reality.

The Oslo accord is dead and buried, it was deemed irrelevant after the arabs repeatedly broke the intent and word of the accord. It was not worth the paper it was written on, it was agreed by people who had their own interests at heart, not the interest of the populations that they represented.

Ryan’s words suggest that he has never really experienced the variety of life and thought of either Israelis or Palestinian Arabs. Most of the Arab population are not suicide bombers and would just like to live in peace to bring up their children and harvest their crops or run their businesses. Most Israelis don’t hate Arabs and fervently desire peace with everyone — but not at any price.
Unfortunately, the prevalent culture in some Arab countries indoctrinates children from an early age to hate Israel and its people. Heaven preserve us from the well-intentioned meddling of ignorant European “liberals” like Ryan.
Israel needs to stay strong and keep its borders watertight.

Further to Aubrey Blitz, I would remind Ryan that members of Hamas, Hezbollah and other avowed terrorist groups have dedicated their whole lives to maiming and killing Israelis and/or Jews and to aiming for the destruction of the State of Israel. They have little purpose in their lives except doing evil. I cannot forget how they danced in the streets when the dreadful news of the 9/11 attacks broke on the world.
Ryan would like Israel to take the threats, the abuse, the rockets and the sheer hatred and turn the other cheek. Sorry, to disappoint you, Ryan, it doesn’t work like that with real people. We have the right to defend ourselves, our families and our country.

Ryan, I am inclined to feel sorry for you except that your comments are hysterical and ignorant and suggest that you have an underlying streak of rabid anti-semitism which you would like to pretend isn’t there. But you’re not fooling anyone!
For your information, most Arabs and most Israelis are decent human beings who try to do right by their fellows; they don’t ned people like you to fan the flames of hatred and discontent.
It wouldn’t be so bad if only you knew what you were talking about.

(continued) That the name “Palestine” always meant “land of the Jews” is the reason that Great Britain was awarded the “Palestine Mandate” after World War I, iut was to be “the homeland of the Jews.”

Israel isn’t “sovereign over the entire city of Jerusalem.” It is only sovereign in the Western half. Arab East Jerusalem is Occupied Palestinian Territory(OPT).
Hot debate. What do you think?

Utter nonsense, not only is all of Jerusalem part of Israel as Israel’s capital, but it belongs to Israel and no other nation. No terrorist organization will change that fact, not now and not in the future so all you dreamers had better wake up from your dream and accept the facts as they stand.

Rhoderick, you have fallen for the ‘historical revision that is so fashionable now. Jerusalem has never been divided, and always belonged to Israel. The Jordanians captured it and did not allow Jews to pray at the Western wall – the part of the Temple. But since Israel defeated Jordan, and all the hostile Arab countries who attacked her, Jerusalem has remained the Capital of Israel, undivided, and open to all religions. Unfortunately, there is such a powerful tide of Muslim and Leftist aggression in wanting to delegitimize Israel; the former because they cannot tolerate non-Muslims in the region, and the latter because of multiple unhealthy reasons, that there is a push to divide Jerusalem.

Exactly Sylvie! Millions suffer real persecution, genocides and human rights violations of terrible forms and yet the Palestinians alone are the focus of so many “human rights” activists, few of whom have the slightest grasp as to the true nature of the middle east regarding the Jews. My own suspicion is that were the Palestinians in the same situation against anyone other than Jews, the importance of their cause would surely be ignored for what it truly is. A trumped up collection of phony and staged propaganda perpetrated by a bunch of savage “leaders” who artificially keep their own impoverished & in refugee camps to cynically use them as propaganda props, serving their own agendas.

The Palestinian holding the Palestinian flag is actually an Israeli Arab and possesses an Israeli ID. So much for Fakestine.
To those who want Jerusalem divided again, why is that acceptable, but not a divided Berlin? What utter ignorant stupidity. Why don’t you learn historical facts and legal understanding. Israel possesses “disputred territories, ” not “Palestinian.” Cameron and vague Hague have one thing in common with the BBC , reality and honesty goes out the window to appease obscenely wealthy and corrupt arab oil producing states. In any case what is Britain today? a navy with one aircraft carrier and no planes? What a joke.

The British invented half the countries that now form the middle east. Why shouldn’t they invent yet another one (at the expense of the Jews..of course)? And as long as anyone BUT Jews grabbed any of those lands, no issue was raised. As soon as a Jew was involved, the creation of “disputed lands” came into being. The Palestinians must revise history to “invent” their past, and they must destroy Jewish history & its artifacts in order to disprove true history.

More anti-semitic crap from the expert ant-semites, the British. Their arab mates will never again gain control of Jewish land so it follows that their opinions are irrelevant. We only have to wait a few more decades for Sharia law and its courts to replace the British justice system.

You are so right: Belgium, France, Scandanavia, Holland, and of course Britain – where the BBC is too frightened to call Islamist terrorists by their real name, where Israel is demonized to placate the Muslim population, where mosques are springing up in every town, where sharia law already exists and will become totally acceptable. When Britain is an Islamic state, how many self-hating Jews will rush to convert I wonder? Because if they don’t, they will be regarded as dhimmis – second-class citizens; forced to get off the pavement when Muslims are walking, paying huge taxes to support a Muslim state and where their children will not be educated beyond the age of 11. 15 more years?
