Caught on Camera: “Stoning” Attack on Israeli Car

February 23, 2012 15:00 by

How often are Palestinian stone throwing attacks presented by the media as a minor nuisance or a merely symbolic form of resistance against well-armed Israelis?

The reality is that such attacks can seriously injure or kill as was the case in September 2011 when Asher Palmer and his infant son Yehonatan were killed when their car crashed as a result of a stoning attack.

As YNet News reports, Israeli teacher Zehava Weiss is extremely lucky to have escaped unharmed in another such attack this week:

Luckily, Weiss said, her car is armored, but even so “the windshield was shattered and the exterior was dented in several places. They were throwing bricks, not stones.”

The moment of the attack was caught by both AFP and AP photographers.

These images beg the question about the role of those photographers in this incident. We’ve seen many times how incidents such as this only occur if Palestinian youths have an audience. Clearly the presence of the media influences the situation. There have even been suggestions of active collusion with the stone throwers in order to create the perfect image for the watching media.

The domain name “Honest Reporting” is very attractive to people who don’t have the time to search for the truth (i.e. most of us), yet, they want to learn something about what’s happening in the rest of the world so they don’t look totally ignorant should the subject be brought.
I agree with Mathew, this looks staged, but let’s assume for the sake of “Honest Reporting” it’s not. Therefore, I ask whoever reads this, before you dislike my post (if it went through anyway), do your homework and search for counter stories. Just like in court, any trial, to be just, should have defence and prosecution. Find the Rachel Corrie story or read articles by Dr. Norman Finkelstein; search for photos of Israeli children signing missiles (and learning to hate) before bombing Beirut and south Lebanon, or read about what the IDF and IAF did in Gaza between 2008 and 2009… Maybe you can go a bit earlier in history, and look up the 1982 massacre of Sabra and Shatila… Perhaps these stories and many others will help you understand why these brats are busy throwing stones at Israeli cars instead of playing soccer or video games.
But again, you’re too busy for the truth; after all, it’s not your war! Or is it?

First Nick- You are allowed to say all those things on this site- I post my points of view on sites such as Press TV- been blocked- Finklestien hardtalk interview U Tube -been blocked-
BBC message board- been blocked- Guardian comments page -been blocked- I never use profanities- I quote my sources. So I wonder how that is.
There is now fotage of the Rachel Correi incident that that show footage that the driver of the dozer could not have seen her- and when you put yourself in that situation there is always a risk. And Finklestien, well I am sorry this it what the N.Y.Times said of him. “The New York Times review of his book- described its premise as “ A novel variation of the Elders of Zion.” They concluded by accusing Finkelstein of being Juvenile stupid and arrogant. (Their issue Aug 6th 2000)”
      And ref:”http://honestreporting.com/finkelstein-on-bds-a-cult-of-dishonesty/”

As for children learning to hate I recommend you find the books inside the P.A and Gaza schools relating to Jews and the maps showing the “Non-existence” of Israel.
It is you now sir, who fails to check the other side.
Sabre and Shatila- Well yes maybe Israel might have been able to prevent it- that is open for discussion-
However you fail to mention that it was carried out by the Lebanese Christians- and they did so in revenge for the massacres that Araft`s men carried out against them whilst running riot in Beirut. And as I am sure you are well aware- as you appear to be a person of learning- In this part of the world- Honour and feuding, combined with killing are the norm.
Example- how the Hamas killed their Fatach opponents after the won the Gaza elections.
