UPDATE

HRsuccessThe Guardian has amended the story, which also included other factual errors involving an individual who was interviewed by the journalist responsible. The error flagged in this post has also been corrected. The following appears at the bottom of The Guardian story:

In what can only be a result of poor proofreading, The Guardian, in its description of a fatal Palestinian stabbing attack in Jerusalem’s Old City, reports:

Clearly it would not have been the wife of one of the victims who grabbed a gun and started firing at the police. Indeed, as The Times of Israel correctly reports, police said the attacker, i.e. the Palestinian terrorist, may have grabbed a firearm from one of the victims.

While this error may not have been made with any malicious intent, it is nonetheless careless in the extreme and particularly hurtful in light of the terrible events that it refers to.

A request for a correction has been sent to The Guardian – watch this space.
