Israeli Government Video Irks Palestinians

July 28, 2011 13:56 by

Congratulations to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon for taking the initiative in the vital battleground of social media.

Ayalon’s YouTube video “The Truth About the West Bank” is evidently considered to be such a threat to the distorted Palestinian historical narrative that Saeb Erekat (who still appears to be the chief Palestinian negotiator despite resigning from the position in February 2011) has responded by publicly condemning the video in no uncertain terms.

Here’s your chance to help Israel online.

It’s really simple – click on the video and watch as Danny Ayalon explains the status of the West Bank. In September the Palestinian Authority plans to tie Israel up in legal knots at the UN with an appeal for statehood in the West Bank and Gaza based on the 1948 armistice line (commonly and misleadingly referred to as the “1967 borders”).

Wherever you are on the political map, it’s time that the world is reminded of Israel’s historical and legal rights as well as how Israel found itself in control of the disputed territories.

By simply clicking on this video or sharing it on social media platforms such as Facebook, you won’t just be reminding your own friends and friends of Israel of the facts. You will also be promoting this material “beyond the choir” to the millions of people who browse YouTube and know nothing of the Israeli narrative.

Evidently, the Palestinians find it difficult when Israel reasserts its rights in the face of the assault on the country’s legitimacy. According to the PA press release:

With this video, the Israeli government has left no doubt on its pro-conflict agenda. Now, the international community knows the Israeli government is committed to denying the Palestinian people their inalienable right to self-determination and on continuing their illegal and colonial enterprise in the occupied Palestinian territory”, said Dr. Saeb Erakat.

Dr. Erakat said this video, presented by the Israeli deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon, denies the validity of UN resolutions and claims that the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are a legitimate part of Israel. He added, “This is not an amateur video prepared by an extremist group. An official representing the State of Israel presents a cynical and falsified account of history and international law.

Dr. Erakat continued: “In its desperate attempt to gear international discourse away from the pursuit of genuine peace to the outdated arguments of those who oppose it, this official video went as far as discarding United Nations Resolution 181 (II).” “I want to remind the government of Israel that it was accepted at the UN as a full member based on its acceptance of this resolution” said Dr. Erakat.

Danny Ayalon

In reaction to the condemnation, Ayalon said: “For too long the Palestinian narrative of international law and rights has gone unchallenged and this over the top reaction to a public diplomacy video proves that they are acting like spoilt children who have had their way for too long. They are unable to challenge a single fact in the video and have completely avoided a legitimate and honest discussion on the issues.

In the press release, Erekat claims that Israel was accepted to the United Nations on the basis of UN General Assembly Resolution 181. “This false claims shows that Erekat misconstrues international law and its system proving exactly how misguided the Palestinian attempt to have their unilaterally declared state recognized at the United Nations really is. Israel was admitted as a full United Nations member in 1949 by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 273, after a recommendation by the Security Council, because it met the criteria of statehood and signed armistice agreements with our neighbors, something the Palestinians should bear in mind before they further their confrontational and damaging plan towards September.

Help us to help Israel get the facts out. Spread this video and make a difference.

Thank you for such a simple explanation of what is really true. But do not expect the world to be interested in the truth, as it is said by the Spirit of Gd you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Since the world does not ‘know’ Him, the world will not be free to ‘know’ the truth. The battle goes on, we keep on fighting, but only ‘He’ can give the victory.

The trouble is, the world is trying to end the wrong occupation. It is not the Jewish (I say Jewish rather than Israeli because the Palestinians discriminate against Jews, not Israelis) occupation of “The West Bank” that should be ended. It is the Arab occupation of Judea and Samaria.

It is a very poor claim to a land that has to change its name in order to try to legitimise stealing it from the people it belongs to. To claim that Jews have no right to live in Judea, the land of the Jews, is a very unconvincing political slogan. To persuade the world to call it The West Bank and suppress its proper name is an essential prerequisite to pursuing the false claim. Those broadcasters and newspapers who have gone along with spreading this deception can justifiably be called anti-semitic.

I had the good luck to live with and travel with Professor Walter C. Loudermilk of the UNO back in 1952. He was the hydrology expert going back to the Johnston water plan of 1936 for the Middle East. On one of his trips, he pointed out the heavy silt deposits out in the Mediterranean after the rain of a few days before. He said something like, “This was at one time, the land of milk and honey. The Jews took care of the land, but the Arab herdsmen down through the following centuries
let their sheep and goats eat the bark off the trees when there was nothing else for them to graze on. Well, that caused the trees to die and for the water table to disappear and erosion t o go on forever after. You could fill a thousand dump trucks, twenty four hours a day, for a thousand years and you couldn’t put back the top soil that was lost to these hills. How can the Arabs call this their homeland when they virtually ruined the place?”

It is common for victors to rewrite history to suit their puposes; this is one case where the losers are doing so and, unfortunately, have a great deal of support from other losers.

When Hezbollah or Hamas attack with their missiles at civilians and the Israeli population then the Israeli military should attack the enemy and bring it to a conclusive outcome and look to be the victors and make them pay heavily for their murderous evil actions.
King Hussein of Jordan did this when these so called Palestinians Jordanian Subjects tried to overthrow him in the Black September uprising when his army killed approximately 15000 Palestinian Jordanians or more with thousands injured seriously as well. They never tried to overthrow him again for they feared and remember this event .
Israeli Government have shown understanding and restraint and hoping that they will be peaceful and negotiate in a positive manner for a peace and accept Israels right to exist. The problem is with their brutal and corrupt leaders and they suffer due to this. From a position of strenght and Unity will Israel succeed and win the peace.G-D Bless and watches over Israel and likewise for all the Jews in the Diaspora.

This video is twenty years late. its not enough to place it you tube. the video talks of simple yet historical facts and now no one is really interested.

this video needs to be driven around all public media and social network sites to remind and correct the mess the Israeli governments neglected to do.

the Israeli government have always had this information and our cousins the Palestinians have been unwilling to accept the truth regardless of how much it stares them in the face.

With all due respect, you most certaily have not got the foggiest idea about this subject.
The ‘palestinians’ NEVER and will NOT have any intention of making PEACE with Israel because they had such opprtunities in 1947 UN Resolution; after 1948; after 1967 etc.
Jewish settlements or Jewish OCCUPATION did not exist between 1948 till 1967 and YET there was not a single instance during 19 years that the Arabs agreed to make peace with Israel but on the contrary they assaulted her daily with acts of terror.
Their intention then as it is now is to EXTERMINATE Israel & Israelis and they have been declaring these intentions PUBLICLY for 65 years yet you are not LISTENING!
When Sadat made PEACE with Israel, every square inch of ‘occupied’ Sinai was returned to him and for good measure the Muslim Brotherhood ASSASSINATED him!
It is time for apologetic people such as yourself to WAKE up to the FACTS & REALITIES facing Israel!

If the “settlements” in Judea and Samaria ( West bank to you ) are THE obstacle to peace why did the Arabs invade Israel in 1948 and again in 1967 ? There were no settlements then. It is an unfortunate fact that the Arabs regard Israel as one big “settlement” and there will never be peace as long as they don’t recognize Israel’s right to exist. You have to be blind or stupid not to see this. Which are you David?

“I think that Israel allowing the settlements to aggressively expand in the West Bank, no matter the legal status of that land, is a terrible strategic blunder.”

Give us a break. By NOT buiding on your own land, that sends a message that is ISN’T really your land. I say BUILD BUILD BUILD and BUILD some more. Jude and the Shomron are the historical and undeniable heartland of the Jews. What better place to build Jewish homes?

David, the Jews can agree to stop expanding their community when the Muslims agree to reduce their 5 child per family birthrate.
By the way, these “settlements” are basically like suburbs. The older ones are indistinguishable from any neighborhood in Israel, except, perhaps, for greater security entering them. Given the experience when Israel left Gaza, I see no reason for Israel to give up one inch of disputed land where Jews presently live.
And by the way, let’s explore the politically incorrect question of: If no Jews are to live in a newly created Palestine (previously stated by Mahmoud Abbas), shouldn’t all Muslims then have to leave Israel and move to “Palestine?” I don’t seriously propose this, of course, but why does the world seem to shrug its shoulders at ethnic cleansing of Jews from “sacred Muslim land?”

Firstly, for what reason do you think would tiny Israel preemptively attack its Arab neighbouring countries in 1967? Was it expecting to take over their territories? Certainly not. After a steadily escalating threat from Egypt and other neighbouring countries to conquer Israel there was no option left but for the tiny nation to preempt a strike. There is no denying this fact because I was in a Muslim country watching was being termed as “history in the making”. It did not play out as expected, but history was made!

Secondly, Israel is where it is not because there was no other place to settle the Jews. It is because that was and is Jewish land. If you read history, you will find that it was given to them by God thousands of years prior to 1948. What is most interesting is that it was not vacant land. God dispossessed many tribes to settle His people, the Jews, in that land. What the UN has given the Jews is just a small piece of that God given land that the British splintered. The Palestinians could have had a land if they had accepted the UN deal in 1948. They rejected the land on a promise from their Arab friends that the entire area would be Palestinian after a planned invasion. The attack was repulsed though not all the territory was regained by the then fledgling army of Israel.

Jews come in all shades. There are black, brown, yellow and white Jews. Ultimately they are Jews, aren’t they?

All you need to do is spend 12 minutes each on chapter 209 “ZIONIST Quran” & 227 “Judea or Palestine” to utterly DISPROVE -once and for ALL time – any and all fabricated claims by Arabs & Muhammadans to the Promised Land based entirely upon the Arabic of Muhammad’s Quran in chapter & verse!

Israel has failed abysmally to let the world know that more horrific than the flight of the Palestinians in their 1948 Nakba or desertion was the flight of the Arab/Mizrahi Jews 1948 from the Muslim world persecuted, humiliated, massacred, dispossessed for up to 2600 years. The latter now constitute more than half of Israel’s present population. Like the Palestinians the Mizrahi refugees could have been supported by UNRWA and suffered three generations of well publicized humiliation as insisted by their Muslim brothers, but the Jews behaved in a civilized fashion and quietly took in 850,000 Mizrahi refugees and almost doubled its population overnight at a critical time in its history (1948-67). Almost no one on this earth has not heard of the unfortunate Palestinians and yet scarcely a soul has heard of the Mizrahim who lost their assets
and lands which together are estimated to be seven times the size of Israel. Maybe the Israeli government will realize and do something about this massive information failure on its part.

I wish the world could see how Israel have suffered, how unjust the world is to uphold
Palestinians when Israel has been so badly used. Time will prove that Israel are the
rightful heirs to all the land as God does not change his mind even if his own people
turn away from him and become humanistic instead of godly. Israel will triumph. It
is written, but the world needs to know the real situation. I think the short video clip
was excellently done and should be made public especially in the west, not tucked
away on a small website where I found it. God Bless you Israel..I pray for you.

ARAB IMMIGRANTS’ CHILDREN – AKA THE “PALESTINIANS”

The vast majority of current self-identified Palestinian Arabs have roots in the Levant of less than a century. As it happens, with the Zionist revival of the land and its economy near the end of Ottoman rule, wages started rising and new jobs appearing causing a significant migration of Arabs to the area. You can start assessing family histories yourself, or just consider this list of the most common “Palestinian” surnames:

    al-Masri – the Egyptian
    al-Mughrabi – the Moroccan
    al-Djazair – the Algerian
    al-Yamani – the Yemeni
    al-Afghani – the Afghan
    al-Turki – the Turk
    al-Hindi – the Indian
al-Hourani – the Hauranite (from southern Syria)
    al-Kurdi – the Kurd
    al-Ajami – the Iranian
    al-Shami- the Syrian
    Khamis – Bahrain
    al-Araj- part of Morocco
    Halabi – Aleppo, Syria
Bardawil – named after a lake in Egypt

I have yet to hear of anyone with the surname “al-Filastini.”

One of the many ironies of the ‘Palestinian’ cause is that, for decades (centuries?) prior to the 1950′s, the phrase ‘Palestinian’ usually referred to Jews from Palestine – recently Reuters made a typical slip talking about a “first official soccer match on home soil” when, for example, the Palestinian team played Greece on home soil in a World Cup qualifier in 1938!

So simple, so effective, so wonderful! A documentary or two plus a few Hollywood movies focusing on these facts and events would really hammer home the truth. No doubt there would be some backlash from those who would rather the truth was not widely known but someone has to take a stand against the misinformation and blatant lies that have been fed to the world, including their own younger generations, for far too long. Orwell so accurately described how history can so easily be manipulated to convince and confuse the masses.
