New York Times: Israeli Soldiers vs Palestinian Worshipers
April 3, 2011 15:23 by Yarden FranklHere we go again. What do you think was going through the mind of the photo editor at the New York Times when he chose this image to accompany a story that “time is running out” for an Israeli peace plan?
Yes, here we have a typical scene where the Palestinians are peacefully praying while Israeli soldiers stand nearby holding weapons and riot gear. Bus bombings and murdered families play no role in today’s update. Just an analysis of how time is running out before the Palestinians declare their own state.
I supposed that all the Palestinians want is a state where they can pray in safety, far away from those terrifying Israeli soldiers.
And to think, now the New York Times is charging for us to see such biased coverage.

A “staged” photo can express any kind of opinion, pro or con. This is an editorial opinion, not a news photo. A “point of view” should appear on the editorial page of a newspaper, not on page 1 where news appears.
It’s basic journalism 101. Perhaps the news editor of the NY Times need a refresher course.
PS. The source of the article, noted in very small print below the photo is a photographer connected with Hamas. This is easily checked on Google. Shame on the NY Times!

It is a custumary, that Arab people pray before they and engage or challenge israeli soldiers guarding the peace between settlers and palestinians. For us in the western Catholic world we associate prayer with peace and tranquility. In the Arab culture there is no separation of we we call spirituality with violence because of Jihad, So in the west we ara mislead with this photographs because they are taking out of context; in fact Arabs pray before going to confront the soldiers. Suicide bombers engage in a religious preparation with prayer and fasting before they excute their Jihad, that kill dozens of people. .
I believe this picture was taking in the northern border with Syria or Lebanon, when they tried to breach de border line. The foto was taking with telefoto -like many pictures use for propaganda- In this picture foe example the soldiers appear to be very close in distance to Arabs (praying) because telefoto lenses create a distorsion. I recommend to read About Optical distorsion.
