The Israeli report stated there were sufficient weapons on the IHH ship to be a significant threat to them and their territoty Their simply got in first. The UN position at present on Israel and its border with its neighbours is contentious and any decision (by an external power such as the UN) could add fuel to the fire. And going back to the 1967 position is not acceptable to them. Much water has gone under the bridge since then.and the decision about this must be acceptable to them. Historically (Biblically), Israelis believe they are ‘God’s chosen people in God’s chosen country’, and whatever we think about this that is their position and they will defend it.

What I am suggestion is these situations are never black and white and there are other matters to consider such as trade relations between these two countries (Israel and Turkey) which were full on during 2010 and presumably will continue this year. My thought simply was that it would be apprpriate for Israel to appologise as she reacted with military force and lives were lost..Trade relations were not the focus at the time of the incident.

Wrong, Peter- Israel merely enforced the blockade, which the Turks attempted to circumvent. Result: State-sponsored terrorists lost their lives as a result of their own hostile and aggressive actions, nothing more. Trade relations had – and have – nothing to do with the manufactured non-”issue” of the “humanitarianism” of the blockade of Gaza that Erdogan and Turkey signed on to.Try again.

This crisis is manufactured to cement the Islamist base in Ankara. If an Islamist were not in power in Turkey, this would not be news there.
