UK Politician Slams BBC Over Silence On Itamar Murders
March 24, 2011 9:32 by Simon Plosker
Louise Bagshawe
Hats off to British MP Louise Bagshawe for taking the BBC to task for its coverage or rather, lack of coverage of the brutal murders of the Fogel family in Itamar. Writing in the Daily Telegraph, she describes finding out about the attack via Twitter:
Horrified, I went to the BBC website to find out more. There I discovered only two stories: one a cursory description of the incident in Itamar, a West Bank settlement, and another focusing on Israel’s decision to build more settlements, which mentioned the killings in passing.
As the mother of three children, one the same age as little Elad, who had lain bleeding to death, I was stunned at the BBC’s seeming lack of care. All the most heart-wrenching details were omitted. The second story, suggesting that the construction announcement was an act of antagonism following the massacre, also omitted key facts and failed to mention the subsequent celebrations in Gaza, and the statement by a Hamas spokesman that “five dead Israelis is not enough to punish anybody”.
There were more details elsewhere on the net: the pain and hurt, for example, of the British Jewish community at the BBC’s apparent indifference to the fate of the Fogels. The more I read, the more the BBC’s broadcast silence amazed me. What if a settler had entered a Palestinian home and sawn off a baby’s head? Might we have heard about it then? On Twitter, I attacked the UK media in general, and the BBC in particular. I considered filing a complaint.

I am afraid this horrific and brutal murder never really made headlines in any of the UK media.
Even the pro Israeli papers never gave it the front page headline.
Even though they all had to handle the stories on the UK budget and Libya- this act of infanticide barley made the back pages- I wonder if it had been Muslim deaths in Gaza whether it would have been given greater prominence.?
What a stupid question!

The Itamar Massacre was “only 5 jews.” What a lot of rubbish! The INTENT to commit murder, regardless of who they are, is a crime in itself and I will not condemn Israel for gojng to war over it. Since when do children count as combatants? These murderers MUST BE PUNISHED and that goes for anybody who thinks like them!

I am appalled at the cowardice of the chief rabbi and jewish leaders failure to take the BBC to task for its biased reporting.
Thank G.D for Bagshawe, a rightous gentile.

Just more proof how the Brits, based on skimming the original 2,000 comments, have no moral compass and do not regard israelis as human. I am sorry I ever stepped foot in London.

If you see the news reports about ‘violent Islamists’ riot in Sydney, Australia, the most interesting report is the Police were wounded and ‘apparently’ 6 people were charged. There was a ‘mob’ of people breaking the law and inciting to riot and act violently. I am simply amazed that our government here is allowing this behaviour, I would not only be arrested, i would be beaten for attacking police, we are now completely a 2 law nation, 1 for ‘aussies’ already declared criminals by birth, 2 moslems, who are a persecuted people and therefore cannot be charged as this would be ‘villification’ of their religion, Unfortunately, even now, plans are afoot to ‘blow stuff up & kill infidels’, US

It would appear quite sadly, that are gov’t representatives have no desire to learn how the Islamist thinks, 1 they are the best people in the world, 2 all who deny ‘mohammed’ must die. We can see clearly through history the plight of Israel with these ‘fanatics of murder’, the recent troubles in England & Europe, now it is fully visible inside our borders & yet nothing will be done because we are not allowed to offend ‘these people’ regardless of what or how they talk about us. Keep watching brothers and sisters of the truth, I believe now, it is only a matter of time before we see the first of ‘armed attacks’ & our gov’t disarmed us as they think we are dangerous to ourselves. God bless u

It is apparent that all terrorist activity against Israeli citizens is condoned, even the most barbaric actions. The only way to publicize these atrocities is for Israel to retaliate and public relations.

In the spirit of “honest reporting” Louise Bagshaw is married Peter Mensch, the manager of Metallica, Jimmy Page and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have no idea whether he really is a “mensch”. More important, Bagshaw resigned her seat in Parliament in August of this year.

The BBC’s credibility has long been dead. Biased reporting or no reporting has killed my respect and trust. And now, with the Jimmy Savile affair out in the open, it would take a miracle to breathe life back into it. Of course, no one cared about the BBC’s bias against Israel, but they care about this latest scandal.
