LebanonAs the first anniversary of the Rafik Hariri assassination approaches, AP reports that Lebanese are abuzz over Hezbollah’s Sheik Hassan Nasrallah and anti-Syrian politician Michel Aoun (pictured together), who came to an understanding, leaving the country hopeful for a significant political realignment and an easing of sectarian tensions.

While their 10-point agreement pays lip service to international calls to disarm Hezbollah, a closer look indicates that “liberating the Shebaa Farms from the Israeli occupation” is a bigger part of the agenda. Israel and the UN maintain that this disputed area of land was captured from Syria, not Lebanon.
